Lauren Mucciolo is an independent producer with shooting and editing capabilities who is available to work on documentaries for film, television and multimedia. Since 2011 she has cultivated a niche serving as producer for PBS Frontline’s character driven documentaries. Most recently “Being Mortal,” based on Atul Gawande’s bestselling book and produced by 20ver10 Media, aired in February 2015 and followed terminally diagnosed patients and their doctors navigating decisions at end of life. This project was accompanied by short films for the web, for which Lauren produced “A Last Wish” and “The Conversation” on Frontline’s YouTube channel.
Her other Frontline credits include the two-part series “Locked Up in America” — with Britain’s Mongoose Pictures — which told the stories of adults and children currently and previously incarcerated. Premiering in November 2012 for True Vision, “Poor Kids“ followed children living in poverty in the midwest. These films were co-produced by the BBC 2’s This World series. She has won two RFK Journalism Awards and was nominated for a national News & Documentary Emmy Award for these films. Lauren also served as Associate Producer for True Vision’s 2012 “Chinese Murder Mystery,” about China’s Bo Xilai/Neil Heywood scandal. It aired on Channel 4’s Dispatches in the UK and won an award in the Monte Carlo TV festival in 2013.
